The club heard a great program given by Cory Davies, Executive Director for the Sentara RMH Foundation. He spoke on the current project of raising funds for a state of the art Linear Accelerator for the Hahn Cancer Center. The cost is $3.5 million and they have hit the point where they have purchased the machine. It should be installed in September with a goal of operational by December. Sentara RMH will then become one of the leaders in this technology..
The club made its annual donation to the Sentara RMH Pediatric Department today. Janet Wendelken, Senior Development Officer accepted the check.
Denise Munroe, Massanutten Regional Library, gave her yearly presentation on the Summer Reading Program and the other programs being offered by the library throughout their system.. They have 6 branches and serve approximately 4200 children in the summer program.
The club presented our annual donation to the Massanutten Regional Library in the amount of $2,500. Denise Munroe accepted the check.
We heard an excellent program from Denise Munroe about the Summer Reading Program at the Massanutten Regional Library. It extends to all of their branches and impacts approximately 4,745 children who read over 47,000 hours during the summer.
Since its start, the Kiwanis Club of Harrisonburg has been a sponsor of the Summer Reading Program at Massanutten Regional Library. Today we presented our annual donation to Denise Munroe. Today, our club presented Lori Kizner, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Harrisonburg Rockingham with a donation check. Because of the tremendous support the BGCHR gave to the Pancake Breakfast, the club was able to help of their organization better that expected.
The club heard a great presentation from Lori Kizner, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Harrisonburg Rockingham today. It enlightened the members on the contributions the BGCHR gives to the community and how it impacts our kids. We also had a visitor from the Shepherdstown, WV Kiwanis Club, Adele Knott.

HARRISONBURG — To his fellow offi cers, Sgt. Jamie Myers of the James Madison University Police Department is known as a man who will always get the job done.
For the last five years, he has led a team of five offi cers on joint patrols with the Harrisonburg Police Department in off-campus student-housing complexes.
“He does high-quality work,” said Maj. Kevin Lanoue, Myers’ supervisor. “He’s meticulous. ... He has high standards.”
